The U16 team started with some trials in April, looking primarily at attitude and behaviour. Daniel Brooks, Adam Low, William & Alec Harkness are the only players that remain from those early days.
Since then, the boys have encouraged their mates to come along and enjoy the training. Before we new it, in excess of 21 boys were training on a regular basis.
We currently have 19 players in training, 17 registered with the League to play.
William & Kieran are our most recent recruits who are both capable players, albeit with different styles of play.
Our first pre-season friendly resulted in a win, but much was identified in terms of weaknesses that had to be put right.
Our second pre-season resulted in a heavy loss. As a result of that defeat the squad of players grew stronger. This was proven in the Pre Season Mini Tournament.
Our Pre Season Mini Tournament gave us a great opportunity to play against seasoned teams with good, strong players. A good day of football enjoyed by all. Knocked out on penalties to the eventual winners was not a bad result.
After all the planning and preparartion the Season started like a damp squid with the Council calling off all games due to adverse weather.
However, once the Season got under way, there was no looking back and certainly no room for complacency. 3 games, 3 wins. Next match at home on Sunday, 12th October, 2008. kick off 2.00pm. Heelands Rangers FC vs Willen Rangers FC

U15 DIVISION 1 RUNNERS UP A GREAT SEASON BUT IF WE HAD TURNED 2 DRAWS INTO WINS WE WOULD HAVE WON THE LEAGUE
Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
